Product Engineer - AI Agent Platform

About the role

Proto is hiring a Product Engineer to design, build and scale user-centric features and applications behind its AI agent platform, which puts AI agents in the hands of governments, regulators and businesses across emerging markets. The role bridges product management, engineering and user experience, owning end-to-end features from concept to production in a lean, remote-first team.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product development, bridging customer needs, UX design and robust backend/frontend implementation.
• Turn complex AI capabilities into intuitive products and interfaces that make AI agent deployment seamless.
• Develop user-facing web applications, workflow builders, dashboards and APIs for the AI agent platform.
• Use AI to design, debug, implement and ship code faster.
• Work with product managers, UX designers, client support and core engineering teams to iterate on features based on user feedback.
• Maintain high software standards for reliability, accessibility, security and maintainability across the stack.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Product Engineer, Full Stack Engineer or Software Engineer building user-facing web applications.
• Proven track record of taking product features from ideation to launch, with a focus on user experience, performance and scalability.
• Ability to turn ambiguous client needs into strategic plans for deliverables.
• Data-driven mindset, with experience implementing analytics, telemetry and user feedback loops.
• Habit of using modern AI tools and agents to boost productivity and code quality.

Required skills

• Frontend: React, TypeScript
• Backend: Python, FastAPI, Node.js
• Relational databases, RESTful APIs and modern web application architecture
• Nice to have: AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines; LLM APIs, prompt engineering, AI agent frameworks; SaaS, developer platforms or no-code/low-code background; experience designing for emerging markets or multilingual channels (WhatsApp, SMS, voice, web chat)
