Senior Actuarial Analyst

About the role

SHMA is one of the leading actuarial consulting firms in Pakistan, working across local and regional insurance markets in traditional and non-traditional roles. It is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst who will support reserving, pricing, solvency and capital modelling work for life, general and health insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in completing quarterly reserving analysis and financial reporting requirements.
• Perform mathematical and actuarial calculations to prepare data for analysis and review for life insurance companies.
• Estimate insurance contract liabilities and determine premium rates for insurers and clients.
• Analyze the financial condition of insurers to estimate their long-run solvency and profitability.
• Carry out actuarial reserving, pricing and forecasting for general and health insurance companies.
• Work on enterprise risk management and capital modelling projects.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to becoming an Associate or Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society.
• University degree in mathematics, actuarial science, economics, finance or a related discipline with a good academic record.
• Minimum of 3 to 4 actuarial exams passed from any actuarial organization.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in insurance, reinsurance or actuarial consulting.
• Strong sense of responsibility and maturity, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Commitment to grow with the firm and take on leadership roles.

Required skills

• Strong command of Microsoft Excel (including VBA) and Microsoft Access/SQL.
• Knowledge of programming software such as R, SAS or SPSS is preferred but not required.
