Senior Manager Internal Audit

About the role

Unze London, a fashion brand founded in 1989 selling footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and children, is looking for a Senior Manager Internal Audit. The role leads and manages internal audit across retail stores, warehouses, head office functions and other operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, financial controls, operational procedures and regulations. It also identifies control weaknesses, prevents financial loss, minimises operational risk and recommends improvements to strengthen governance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run risk-based annual audit plans for retail stores, warehouses and head office operations.
• Carry out scheduled and surprise audits of retail outlets against company policies and SOPs.
• Review daily sales, cash handling, cash deposits, refunds, discounts, void transactions and sales reconciliations.
• Lead the retail audit team on physical stock counts and reconcile inventory with system records.
• Audit financial transactions, inventory movements, sales records, stock transfers and system reconciliations using SAP Business One.
• Investigate unusual transactions, suspected fraud, unauthorized adjustments and financial irregularities.
• Audit procurement, vendor payments, purchase orders, petty cash, operating expenses and approval controls.
• Review payroll, attendance, overtime, incentives and other employee payments for accuracy and authorization.
• Evaluate internal controls, segregation of duties, system access and compliance with delegated authority limits.
• Assess controls over inventory receiving, dispatch, inter-store transfers, customer returns, damaged goods and stock adjustments.
• Identify control weaknesses and operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective measures.
• Prepare detailed audit reports, coordinate with department heads and store management, monitor corrective action plans and follow up on findings.
• Maintain an updated risk register and report significant breaches and high-risk issues to senior management.
• Lead, supervise and develop the internal audit team, and prepare periodic audit summaries, risk assessments and management reports.

Required profile

• 10+ years of relevant experience in internal audit, risk management or financial and operational controls.
• At least 5+ years in a managerial or team leadership role.
• Proven experience in fashion retail store audits, warehouse inventory audits and stock reconciliations.
• Professional qualification such as CA/CA Inter with post articles experience, ACCA, CIA, CISA or equivalent preferred; internal audit, risk management or fraud examination certification is an advantage.
• Ability to travel to retail stores, warehouses and other locations occasionally.

Required skills

• SAP Business One (mandatory): reviewing ERP transactions, inventory movements, sales records, financial entries, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Microsoft Excel and audit documentation tools.
• Analytical, investigative and risk assessment skills, strong report writing, presentation and stakeholder management.
• Leadership, team development and decision-making abilities, with high standards of integrity, confidentiality and independence.
