Senior Tax Officer

About the role

Express News in Karachi is seeking a Senior Tax Officer to lead its tax compliance function across federal and provincial jurisdictions. The role involves overseeing sales tax and income tax obligations, ensuring accurate and timely filings, and supporting the finance team with tax strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Sales Tax on Services for Sindh (SRB) and Punjab (PRA), including preparation, filing and compliance monitoring.
• Handle Federal Income Tax and Federal Sales Tax matters through the FBR portal, ensuring timely submissions and accurate documentation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records of tax filings, payments and correspondence with tax authorities.
• Assist in tax audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors and regulators.
• Stay informed of changes in tax legislation and implement necessary procedural updates.

Required profile

• 3–4 years of hands‑on experience in a tax‑focused role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Commerce.
• Strong knowledge of federal (FBR) and provincial (SRB, PRA) tax regulations and filing procedures.
