Senior Technician - MEP (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing & Fabrication)

About the role

Fortek is hiring a Senior Technician for its MEP department (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fabrication) in Islamabad. The role executes and leads complex MEP works across data center, ICT infrastructure, commercial and mission-critical projects, supporting commissioning, mentoring junior staff and ensuring strict safety and quality standards. Candidates must be willing to travel to project sites nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Execute complex electrical installations (panels, DBs, UPS, ATS, PDUs, cable terminations) and precision HVAC installation (ducting, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, insulation).
• Install plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, GI, PPR, HDPE, copper, PVC), perform pipe threading, welding, grooving and leak-proof jointing, and carry out hydrostatic and pressure testing.
• Perform on-site fabrication of supports, brackets, frames and base plates, including cutting, grinding, welding and metal shaping.
• Lead installation of passive systems (cable trays, trunking, conduits, earthing) and supervise grounding and bonding; integrate active systems such as sensors, monitoring devices and BMS interfaces.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning, troubleshoot faults and defects, and prepare as-built drawings and close-out documentation.
• Mentor technicians, junior technicians, helpers and fabrication staff, allocate tasks with the Supervisor and promote quality workmanship.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, hot-work permits and permit-to-work systems, and keep daily work logs, welding logs and test records.

Required profile

• Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or graduation in Electrical or Mechanical field (preferred).
• 6-8 years of hands-on MEP experience, including plumbing and on-site fabrication.
• Experience in data centers, ICT infrastructure or mission-critical environments preferred; experience with hot-work and live-site environments required.
• Desirable: trade certification in plumbing, pipe fitting, welding or fabrication; Certified Electrician license, HVAC or refrigeration certification, and HSE/IOSH/NEBOSH.

Required skills

• Electrical power systems, HVAC and mechanical installations; reading drawings, schematics and BOQs.
• Advanced troubleshooting and familiarity with testing tools and commissioning procedures.
• Proficiency with electrical and mechanical tools and testing equipment; basic MS Office.
• Leadership, mentoring, communication and attention to detail.
