Staff Accountant - QuickBooks Online & Advanced Excel (Remote, Pakistan)

About the role

A growing Canadian CPA firm based in the Greater Toronto Area is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its team remotely. The position is primarily aimed at candidates based in Karachi, Pakistan, though qualified applicants from anywhere in Pakistan are welcome. It is a full-time, 100% remote role working regular Canadian Eastern Time business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records, perform bank and credit card reconciliations, and prepare and post journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements and other accounting reports for business clients.
• Assist in preparing corporate tax returns, GST/HST returns and payroll-related filings.
• Review accounting records, identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain organized working papers and supporting documentation.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and complete assignments on time.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Commerce, or currently pursuing a professional qualification such as CA or ACCA.
• At least 3 years of practical experience in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation and payroll.
• Training and demonstration of practical knowledge of Canadian accounting, taxation and payroll requirements expected within the first 2-3 months; training materials and guidance are provided.
• Reliable internet connection, a suitable home-office setup and availability during regular Canadian Eastern Time hours.

Required skills

• Strong practical experience with QuickBooks Online and advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, PivotTables, conditional formatting, data analysis).
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Sage 50 is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, cloud-based applications and other business productivity tools.
• Preference for candidates with experience with Canadian businesses or accounting firms.

• Compensation of PKR 100,000-200,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience, with possible discretionary performance-based bonuses.
