Vice President - Financial Control

About the role

The Vice President – Financial Control will lead and strengthen the bank’s financial control framework across products, processes, systems and geographies. This senior position acts as the central coordination point for financial control matters, ensuring consistent accounting treatment, robust governance and compliance with regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and enhance the financial control framework across all banking lines and jurisdictions.
• Perform second‑line monitoring of sundry and suspense accounts, reviewing ageing balances, threshold breaches and related risk exposures.
• Identify, escalate and resolve high‑risk or aged balances in partnership with Operations, Finance, Technology and business teams.
• Assess financial control risks arising from operational processes, accounting treatments, reconciliations and system workflows.
• Serve as the primary contact for financial control issues on major projects, new product launches and transformation initiatives.
• Review and approve new product and process requests to ensure accounting, reconciliation and reporting requirements are met.
• Evaluate the impact of system upgrades, automation initiatives and technology enhancements on financial controls before deployment.
• Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit and external auditors on control observations and remediation.
• Support internal audits, regulatory examinations and external audit reviews with analysis and timely action‑item closure.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, digitisation, data‑governance and AI‑enabled monitoring.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial control, accounting or finance within a banking environment.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale control and governance initiatives.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work across multiple functions and geographies.
