Deputy Manager Shift Operations

About the role

The Deputy Manager Shift Operations supports safe, efficient and reliable power‑plant performance during assigned shifts. Reporting to senior management, the role assists in supervising shift activities, monitoring plant output and ensuring compliance with operational, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safe and efficient plant operations in line with regulatory and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate shift‑related activities with internal teams, the Load Dispatch Centre and external stakeholders.
• Implement and support Permit to Work (PTW) systems, plant chemistry, start‑up procedures, interlock checks and protection testing.
• Execute operational schedules, respond to abnormalities, disturbances and emergencies.
• Monitor performance, keep shift logs and operational reports, and communicate incidents.
• Supervise team records, leave schedules and contribute to personnel evaluations.
• Prepare incident reports, conduct root‑cause analysis and support corrective actions.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure implementation of IMS objectives, environmental aspect assessments, hazard risk assessments, emission monitoring and waste management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 6‑8 years of experience in power‑plant operations or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of quality, occupational health & safety and environmental management systems.
• Proven ability to manage HSE emergencies and conduct RCA and hazard risk assessments.
• Familiarity with legal requirements, aspect‑impact assessments, spillage containment and emission monitoring.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Maximo asset management system.
