Assistant Manager – Accounting

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Accounting will deliver high‑quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily in the financial services sector. You will prepare and review statutory and management reports, oversee junior team members, and apply strong technical accounting knowledge under IFRS and UK GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ad‑hoc financial analysis, cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review annual and interim financial statements in accordance with IFRS, UK GAAP and other relevant standards.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts in agreed client formats within reporting timelines.
• Provide financial information for board and committee reporting packs.
• Review and quality‑assure work prepared by other team members, ensuring accuracy and adherence to professional standards.
• Interpret a broad range of accounting standards and provide technical guidance.
• Draft technical accounting papers on treatments, judgments and impacts of new or amended standards.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with focus on general accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Qualified or pursuing membership of a recognised accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CA, ICAEW).
• Strong technical accounting expertise in IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Experience in professional services, audit or accounting advisory environment, preferably within financial services.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365.
• Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or SAP.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS and UK GAAP.
