Internal Auditor

About the role

A national non-profit organization is seeking an Internal Auditor in Peshawar on a contract basis for a donor-funded program. The auditor reviews all relevant departments and sections, assesses the adequacy of controls, compliance with policies, donor regulations and laws, and takes part in complex audit assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Draft the Internal Audit Charter in line with international standards and design audit procedures and work programs.
• Conduct audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls and procedures.
• Identify key risks and propose controls to mitigate them.
• Review the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of financial information and disclosures to management.
• Discuss findings and recommendations with line managers and report significant issues to senior management.
• Prepare audit reports according to the approved audit plan and monitor the implementation of management actions.
• Liaise with external auditors on internal control issues and discuss process improvements with management.
• Report on control deficiencies, non-compliance and recommend corrective action to improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal, external and legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• CA finalist/inter, ACCA qualified, APFA, ACMA, or a Master's degree with relevant experience.
• At least three years of relevant practical experience; preference for recent donor-based or humanitarian experience and for local candidates.
• Females are encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of International Accounting Standards, International Auditing Standards and income and sales tax laws at provincial and federal level.
• In-depth knowledge of internal controls, risk management and accounting processes.
• Strong analytical and advisory skills, good communication and sound judgement.
