Mental Health Counsellor (Remote)

About the role

An integrative medical and mental wellness practice is looking for an experienced Mental Health Counsellor to provide counselling support and ensure continuity of patient care while the Doctor is absent. The role also involves reviewing and verifying the Doctor's clinical notes at the end of each working day so that documentation is accurate, complete and properly maintained. It is a full-time, remote position, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM CST.

Key responsibilities

• Provide counselling services to patients during the Doctor's absence, ensuring continuity of care.
• Conduct counselling sessions and give emotional and psychological support within the scope of professional qualifications.
• Support patients dealing with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma and other related conditions.
• Review and verify the Doctor's clinical notes each day, identifying missing information, discrepancies or items needing follow-up.
• Maintain organized and confidential patient records in line with clinical protocols and confidentiality requirements.
• Coordinate with the Doctor and practice staff to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Required profile

• Previous professional experience as a Mental Health Counsellor.
• Academic background and professional qualifications in Counselling, Psychology or a related field.
• Experience conducting counselling sessions and supporting patients with mental health concerns.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professionalism and discretion.
• Preferred: experience in a mental health practice or clinical setting, telehealth experience, EHR familiarity, and experience supporting patients with anxiety, depression, trauma or addiction-related concerns.
