Quality Engineer (Automation & AI) – Remote

About the role

Zyte is seeking a Quality Engineer who will work within its unified Quality Engineering function. This is an automation‑first, AI‑native position embedded directly in engineering squads, focused on designing risk‑based test strategies and converting them into automated checks using AI‑assisted development workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design risk‑based test strategies for new features and releases, then rapidly implement automated coverage using AI‑assisted tools.
• Use Claude Code (or equivalent AI coding agents) within VS Code as the primary development environment for generating, reviewing, debugging, refactoring, and maintaining test automation code.
• Build and maintain automated test suites with Playwright, integrated into GitHub CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality gates throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Create agentic testing workflows that leverage AI models and APIs to generate, adapt, and maintain tests.
• Develop reusable frameworks, utilities, shared libraries, and AI‑powered tools to accelerate test authoring across teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to shift quality left, influencing requirements, design, observability, and deployment.
• Continuously improve test suite health by reducing flakiness, increasing execution speed, and providing reliable quality signals for each release.
• Own and improve quality metrics such as automated coverage growth, escaped defects, test execution performance, flakiness rates, and release confidence.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to review, validate, and debug code in modern programming languages.
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding agents as a primary development partner.
• Comfortable delegating substantial implementation work to AI agents while maintaining high engineering and quality standards.
