Senior Data Scientist – Data Architecture & Governance

About the role

Nysonian is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to strengthen its data environment across multiple business verticals. The role focuses on improving data architecture, governance, and integration within a fast‑paced, high‑pressure setting.

Key responsibilities

• Own the structure, integrity, and optimization of the primary PostgreSQL database, including schema design, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines linking PostgreSQL with MongoDB, Supabase, Firebase, APIs, and eCommerce platforms.
• Create and enforce a company‑wide data‑management framework covering collection, naming, retention, access, and archival.
• Translate business problems into analytical questions, develop predictive models, and ensure governed analytical datasets.
• Lead data‑quality initiatives, automated checks, and root‑cause analysis for data incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in data science, analytics engineering, data engineering, or data architecture.
• Proven ability to operate in a fast‑moving environment, balancing urgent needs with long‑term data reliability.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Strong Python skills for data processing, analysis, automation, and modeling.
• Experience designing and optimizing relational databases, including normalization and dimensional modeling.
• Hands‑on experience building production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with MongoDB, Supabase, Firebase, and AWS‑hosted infrastructure.
