Payroll Officer

About the role

Gulf Desk Services is recruiting a Payroll Officer for its HR department in Lahore, Pakistan. The role is dedicated to payroll processing, not a general HR position. The officer processes monthly payroll, maintains payroll records, handles statutory deductions and ensures timely and accurate salary disbursements.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll accurately and on time
• Calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, allowances and other payroll components
• Maintain and reconcile payroll records, and reconcile payroll with bank statements and accounting records
• Manage PF, EOBI, social security (PESSI), gratuity and other applicable deductions and contributions
• Prepare payroll reports and management summaries
• Handle salary adjustments, new joiners, resignations, final settlements and other payroll changes
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly
• Maintain confidentiality of salary and employee information, and keep proper documentation and audit trails
• Coordinate with Finance and HR on payroll matters

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR or a related field
• 2-5 years of hands-on payroll experience, including Blue-Collar and White-Collar payroll; textile industry experience is a plus
• Relevant payroll or accounting certifications are an advantage
• Full-time, Monday to Friday 09:00-18:00 with alternate Saturdays 09:00-14:00, based in Gulberg 3, Lahore

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, data validation and reconciliation
• Payroll reporting and analysis
• One or more payroll/accounting systems such as Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, ERPNext or others
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, confidentiality and analytical skills
