Team Lead – People & Execution

About the role

The Team Lead is WERTEC's first level of formal people leadership. You will own the stability, quality, and accountability of multiple small teams (pods), with success measured by their collective performance rather than individual output. This is a people‑in‑execution role focused on delivering results through effective team management.

Key responsibilities

• Distribute workload fairly across pods and maintain consistent quality standards.
• Identify delivery risks early and escalate systemic issues to leadership when needed.
• Conduct structured 1:1 meetings and provide clear, documented performance feedback.
• Review work before it progresses to reduce re‑work cycles.
• Support senior team members while preserving their ownership.
• Maintain psychological safety, hold people accountable and prevent a blame culture.

Required profile

• Ability to stay composed and fair under delivery pressure.
• Comfort giving direct feedback without it becoming personal or emotional.
• Skill in separating personal relationships from performance evaluation.
• Track record of prioritising team outcomes over individual credit.
• Willingness to have difficult conversations rather than avoid them.
• Not inclined to protect under‑performance, avoid conflict, or seek authority for status.
